The Impact of Women in Hip Hop Conference on October 4th, 2008 in Harlem

The Impact of Women in Hip Hop will celebrate the successes and contributions of women in Hip-Hop through art exhibitions, film screenings, special performances and key note speeches. Additionally, this event will be used as a platform to educate and empower the community. There will be a voter’s registration drive, free HIV screenings, and countless resources on site to promote health and wellness.


This is the first annual tribute honoring Cindy Campbell, sister of Kool DJ Herc, Sha Rock, original member of The Funky Four Plus 1, Gamilah-Lamumba Shabazz, Malcolm X’s daughter, Sheri Sher of Mercedes Ladies, Jazzy Joyce, DJ, Tamekia Flowers, founder of Hip Hop 4 Health, Amanda Diva, poet and television personality, Danyel Smith, EIC of Vibe Magazine, and dream hampton, hip hop journalist.
