50 Plots December Takeover: New Album, Movie, Soundtrack, But No Video Game

The marketing whiz is going to go on a cross promotional marketing blitz in December. The Forbes' Hip Hop Cash King is hoping to retain the title in next year's list by releasing a movie, album and soundtrack all tied into "Before I Self-Destruct," which will be hitting theaters and store shelves on December 9th.
The Movie
50 Cent says Before I Self-Destruct is not an autobiographical movie but "was inspired by the actual music," he tells Rolling Stones magazine, "it's not Purple Rain." 50 says the movie will show urban life in a new light.
"When [movies] portray certain lifestyles they don’t show cause and effect, But I showed characters under pressure in scenarios where they felt like there were no other options, even though there were.” He adds, “There are always options. People just usually start to see them while being incarcerated — for not seeing them in the first place.” The rapper is starring, directing and producing the movie.
The Soundtrack
However being the keen businessman he is, the album Before I Self Destruct will not be the official soundtrack to the movie because as he explains “Then Interscope would automatically have the rights to it, when they had absolutely no ownership of the actual material.” Instead he opted to ghost write lyrics for a separate soundtrack and have unsigned artists record the vocals. But he assures us that the soundtrack will be hot. “I kept the music up to standards,” says 50. “I worked with it until it was right.”
The Video Game
Unfortunately 50 Cent's December takeover will not include his highly anticipated "Blood On The Sand" video game, as he previously anticipated. The follow up to his platinum-selling video game "Bulletproof" (1,030,000 copies sold in the U.S.) is in danger of being cancelled due to the merger between Vivendi and Activision. Citing an over-saturation of shooting games, and Activision’s desire to focus “only those franchises that are a strong fit with our long-term strategy". A company spokesman said, "We will not publish other titles that previously were part of the Vivendi Games portfolio and are currently reviewing our options regarding these titles.” Meaning, unfortunately, Blood On The Sand may never hit the shelves. The Grand Theft Auto-type game featured 50 Cent and G-Unit getting stuck, after a concert, in a Middle Eastern, war-torn country. The game may still be released if they can reach a deal with another company. If Blood On The Sand is ever released it wouldn't likely it shelves till March '09.
