LL Cool J threatens to quit rap over low album sales;
thinks it's a Def Jam conspiracy this time

LL Cool J is "furious" with his lackluster album sales and is starting to point fingers again.  LL's album, Exit 13, hit stores last week and has only sold 44,000 copies.  Without Jay Z to blame this time, he seems to think that now there's a Def Jam conspiracy against him.  According to reports he expected sales in the range of 300k.

A source close to LL Cool J's label told MSNBC, "LL is furious. He was so angry at one point that he was beaten by Jessica...he actually threatened to quit rap."  A rep for LL later said “he has no plans to quit now,” and that he’s focusing on celebrating his “sixth consecutive top 10 album in his nearly 25 amazing years in music.”

Jessica Simpson's first country album, 'Do You Know' outsold his 'Exit 13' after they both dropped on the same week.  Simpson's album sold 65,000 copies and came in at No.4 in the charts while LL's Exit 13 sold 44,000 copies and came in at No.9.

Yesterday (9/20), the self-proclaimed G.O.A.T. posted this message to his fans on his MySpace page:

LLCOOLJ EXIT13 conspiracy??

I don't personally believe it. but I'm getting a lot of strange reports from people who say they can't find my new album exit 13 in stores.  And that Def Jam is somehow trying to control and limit my sales because my contract is up.  I think LA reid and company have much more integrity than that.  But just in case you know someone who can't seem to locate the new LLCOOLJ album EXIT13.  Send them to itunes or sears.com....... let's think positive yall.

not old school not new school I'm classic.

boomdizzle...yall got next.

LL blamed is last album's low sales on Jay Z, who at the time was the president of Def Jam.  LL called him out but in a radio interview with Hot97's Angie Martinez Jay Z's said, “I don’t like the way he’s carrying it. We could have definitely talked about this. Or he could have just gave me a phone call. That’s his decision, but I respect him as a legend in the game. And he gon’ get a couple of passes because of that.”

Exit 13, is the veteran rapper's last album under his current contract with Def Jam.

Maybe LL will have more luck in the fashion industry, the star is set to debut a new clothing line through Sears entitled "LL Cool J For Sears" this month.

'Exit 13' is in stores now.
