VH1 Announces guests & performers for Hip Hop Honors & New Hip Hop shows leading up to the event.

Big Boi, Biz Markie, Bun B, DJ Kaos, Ghostface Killah, Kid Rock, MC Lyte, Lil' Jon, Lil' Wayne, Q-Tip, Scarface, Wyclef Jean, Cheech and Chong and Sanaa Lathan are Scheduled to Rock the House at the Fifth Annual 'VH1 Hip Hop Honors' Celebration in Honor of Cypress Hill, De La Soul, Naughty By Nature, Slick Rick and Too $hort

The 5th annual "VH1 Hip Hop Honors" have gotten even bigger!  Big Boi, Biz Markie, Bun B, DJ Kaos, Ghostface Killah, Kid Rock, MC Lyte, Lil' Jon, Lil' Wayne, Q-Tip, Scarface, Wyclef Jean, Cheech and Chong and Sanaa Lathan will turn out to pay homage at VH1's annual tribute to hip-hop luminaries who broke new ground and pioneered the genre into a true cultural phenomenon. This year's honorees include Cypress Hill, De La Soul, Naughty by Nature, Slick Rick and Too $hort.

Tracy Morgan will once again host this year's VH1 Hip Hop Honors festivities which are scheduled to tape at New York City's famed Hammerstein Ballroom on Thursday, October 2. The "VH1 Hip Hop Honors" broadcast will premiere on VH1 and VH1 Soul on Monday, October 6 at 10PM ET/PT.* (PLEASE NOTE NEW AIRDATE AND TIME). Additional performances and appearances will be announced shortly.

The music and influence of each of the honorees will be recognized through performances in collaboration with some of today's hottest talent. Generations of hip hop will bridge the gap for one exceptional night to set it off with the original style and flavor that sparked and inspired the evolution of the music.

Additionally, on Tuesday, September 16, VH1.com will launch its dedicated "VH1 Hip Hop Honors" Web site with honoree profiles, exclusive online programming, show information and more at HipHop.VH1.com. Additional VH1.com and VH1 Mobile efforts around "VH1 Hip Hop Honors" will be announced in the coming weeks.

VH1 will be debuting two original hip-hop shows: 100 Greatest Hip Hop songs and an NWA Documentary

In anticipation of its fifth annual "VH1 Hip Hop Honors" telecast, VH1 will premiere two original hip-hop themed programs. "100 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs," on Sept. 29th, and "VH1 Rock Doc: NWA: The World's Most Dangerous Group," to air on Oct. 3rd.

"100 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs" is a five-part series that will count down the best songs in Hip Hop history.  The show will reveal behind the scenes stories behind each hit and update viewers on what the artists are doing today. It also will feature original interviews and archival performances by Public Enemy, LL Cool J, Run DMC, Salt-N-Pepa, Outkast, Eminem and Grandmaster Flash.

"VH1 Rock Doc: NWA: The World's Most Dangerous Group" takes a look back at the history of the group and the gangsta rap movement. The documentary will be narrated by comedian Chris Rock and will feature interviews with Ice Cube, MC Ren, Dr. Dre, DJ Yella, Eazy-E's widow Tomica Woods-Wright, Ice T and director John Singleton and many more.
