MTV celebrated 25 years of the VMAs last night

Last night MTV held its 25th annual VMA in Hollywood.  It was a night full of the music industry's brightest stars and, although only Lil Wayne walked away with an award for Best Hip Hop Video for his hit "Lollipop," Hip Hop and R&B were definitely in the house.

Britney Spears opened the show by introducing Rihanna who performed "Disturbia."  Christina Aguilera performed "Genie In a Bottle" in commemoration of the award show's 25th anniversary.  Lil Wayne performed with T-Pain.  T.I. performed with Rihanna and Kanye West closed out the show with a world premiere of his new single, "Love Lockdown."

Britney was the big winner of the night taking three awards, Best Female Video, Best Pop Video & Video of the Year, for "Piece of Me."  Chris Brown's "With You" took Best Male Video.  Best Dancing in a Video went to the Pussycat Dolls' "When I Grow Up."  Linkin Park won Best Rock Video for "Shadow of the Day."  Lil Wayne's "Lollipop" made off with the Best Hip Hop Video and Best New Artist went to Tokio Hotel for "Ready, Set, Go."
