MC Breed on life support in need of a lifesaving kidney transplant
On September 5, 2008 MC Breed, real name Eric Breed, collapsed while playing a game of pickup basketball in Atlanta. He was rushed to an area hospital where they said his kidneys failed and according to sources he is currently on life support. He is desperately in need of a lifesaving kidney transplant. His family and friends are looking for a donor to save his life and are contacting artists to participate in a benefit concert for the rapper, which will take place in his hometown of Michigan.
“He had to be revived three times,” said his manager, Darryl Morris, to AllHipHop. “He had to be rushed to the hospital where they diagnosed him and told him his kidney’s have failed. We are hoping we can find Breed a kidney ... before its too late."
The Flint, Michigan rapper is best known for his singles "Ain't No Future in Yo Frontin'", which peaked at #66 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the certified gold selling "Gotta Get Mine", featuring Tupac, that made it to #6 on the Hot Rap Singles.
While Breed never crossed over he is well known and respected throughout the Hip Hop community.
Breed, 36, released his first solo album in 1992, "20 Below," followed up by 1993's "The New Breed" and has released countless albums since. His most successful album was 1994's Funkafied, which peaked at no. 106 on the Billboard 200. He has worked with MC Eiht, Jazze Pha, George Clinton, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Rappin 4Tay, E-40, Too Short and Tupac.
MC Breed is currently working with Too Short on a new album, "The Original Breed," as well as a DVD, "Where is MC Breed?" covering his 17 years in the music industry.
