Lil Wayne Pays Up

Lil Wayne pays the IRS and settles with jeweler.
Lil Wayne is quickly learning that you can't have the top album in the country for two months straight without the bill collectors lining up at your door, especially Uncle Sam and if Wesley Snipes is any kind of example you better pay the IRS!
Seems Lil Wayne was in arrears to the IRS for close to a milli for non-payment of taxes. Wayne, real name Dwayne Carter Jr., was accused by officials in Miami-Dade County of owing $977,840.81 in income tax to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The notice of federal tax lien was filed in the county in May, 2008. He has been staying in Miami since his New Orleans, Louisiana home was destroyed by 2005's Hurricane Katrina.
Lil Wayne's lawyer, Ron Sweeney, insists his client has paid off the sum, even though a release of lien has not been recorded with the county, according to local reports.
In related news, Lil Wayne reached an out-of-court settlement with a jeweler who sued him last year for the balance of an outstanding bill.
Jack Sutton Fine Jewelry claimed Weezy failed to pay off a $146,000 invoice. Sutton said he placed orders over the phone for a $138,000 diamond ring and a $32,000 gold and diamond necklace.
The lawsuit stated the New Orleans native agreed to make monthly payments, but after sending in a check for $24,000 in October and a second check in January, all payments stopped.
Both parties have now reached a deal in the case. The rapper's lawyer, Ron Sweeney, says: "We reached a settlement. Everybody's happy."
